Bindex® For Osteoporosis Screening
USC now offers the Bindex® bone density test device for osteoporosis screening. The device measures cortical bone thickness to determine bone density in patients. Bindex® is a radiation free, cost efficient, osteoporosis screening device. Because of it’s ease of use and portability, Bindex® can be used in many different clinical environments.
Bindex ® offers accurate results, which are comparable to DEXA scans, and has a 90% accuracy rate in detecting osteoporosis or detecting an increased risk for the disease. Bindex ® can replace nearly 70% of DEXA scans.
According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) it is recommended that you have bone density test if:
- you are a woman age 65 or older
- you are a man age 70 or older
- you break a bone after age 50
- you are a woman of menopausal age with risk factors
- you are a postmenopausal woman under age 65 with risk factors
- you are a man age 50-69 with risk factors
About 75% of osteoporotic patients are undiagnosed due to the fact that diagnostics are performed only at the secondary care level. Bindex® was created to cover this early diagnosis gap. Bindex® as been validated according to international guidelines, and its measurements are thus comparable to standard diagnostic procedures (axial DXA, X-ray device).
Bindex® is reliabe, fast and easy to use in any environment.
