Ultrasound Solutions Corp. is pleased to present another ECHO CME Free Learning Session in our series of Wharton’s Wednesdays.  Dr. Ronald Wharton will conduct  a discussion on cardiomyopathies and systemic diseases affecting the structure and function of the heart on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM (EDT). This free event has been approved for 1 SDMS CME credit.

ECHO CME Course Description

Are you well acquainted with different types of cardiomyopathies and their appearance using 2-D,   M-mode, and Doppler echocardiographic imaging?   This one hour event will cover the sonographic appearance of non-ischemic causes of abnormal cardiac morphology/physiology and help familiarize attendees with the impact of these conditions on the structure and/or function of the heart.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Categorize non-ischemic causes of abnormal cardiac morphology and function, both genetic and acquired
  • Recognize abnormalities in function that cannot easily be explained by coronary artery disease
  • Identify abnormalities in valvular heart disease which can occur secondary to cardiomyopathies

About Our Speaker

Dr. Ronald Wharton is a Clinical Cardiologist, Echocardiographer, and nationally recognized expert. He is currently a member of the faculty at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. Prior to working at North Shore University Hospital, he was a member of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Divisions of Maimonides Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY) and Montefiore Medical Center (Bronx, NY). 

Dr. Wharton, who is board-certified in Cardiology and Echocardiography, has been a member of the faculty at the annual meeting of the American Society of Echocardiography four times. He has written questions for the practice exams used by Cardiology Fellows to study for their board certification in Echocardiography, and for practicing Cardiologists to maintain their certification. In addition, he has been the author of the series “Analyze This Image” at Medscape Cardiology since 2012.
