AIUM Updates – Standard vs. Detailed Fetal Anatomy Scan

We are pleased to present Jane J.K. Burns, AS, RT, RDMS Ultrasound Educator at the
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for a discussion on AIUM guidelines for obstetrical exams. Join us for AIUM Updates – Standard vs. Detailed Fetal Anatomy Scan.

Description:

This course will provide an outline of the current AIUM guidelines with regard to the second and third trimester standard scans (CPT Code 76805) vs. detailed fetal anatomy scans (CPT Code 76811). Images and documentation required for a detailed anatomy scan will be presented, including video clips. Clinical indications for these detailed scans will be covered, as well. An overview of the AIUM practice parameters will also be reviewed. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the different components required for second and third trimester obstetrical scans (CPT Code 76805) and those required for detailed fetal anatomy scans (CPT Code 76811)
  • List the maternal and fetal indications which require a detailed fetal anatomy scan
  • State the correct fetal landmarks utilized to obtain the required fetal biometrics
  • Navigate through the AIUM website to obtain current OB practice parameters

About Our Speaker:

fetal anatomy scanJane J.K. Burns, AS, RT, RDMS, started her career in ultrasound in 1980 and has been working in the field of Perinatal/MFM for the past 28 years. She presently holds ultrasound registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Fetal Echo, as well as NTQR certification.

For the past 11 years, Jane has expanded her field of expertise to include work as a Sonography Educator. She has co-authored an OB/Gyn Registry Review Workbook and is presently the Ultrasound Educator at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Jane continues to present OB lectures at various ultrasound programs and loves to share her OB images, case studies, and “tips & tricks” to help others improve their image quality and knowledge.

This activity has been approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.

The CME participant roster will be reported by Ultrasound Solutions Corp. to the SDMS CME Tracker System.
