Course Description:
Evaluation of the pediatric bowel using ultrasound is an important tool for children of all ages. Of course, the accurate diagnosis of bowel pathologies depends on thorough imaging and recognition of the anatomy of gut structures. This course will cover why ultrasound is considered such a valuable tool for evaluating the pediatric bowel, as well as covering normal and abnormal anatomy of the pediatric bowel. In addition, proper scanning techniques will be reviewed. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event.)
Course Objectives:Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
Understand why ultrasound is sometimes the best option for assessing bowel
Recognize the normal anatomy of the gut with ultrasound
Describe pathology of the pediatric bowel structures
Discuss techniques used to best evaluate bowel
About Our Speaker:
Gregory Matter, RDMS, RVT, hasbeen a Sonographer for 15+ years. His professional focus for the past seven years has centered on Pediatric Sonography. Greg has worn many hats during his career in the world of ultrasound, but one of his most respected has been as a mentor to many Pediatric Sonographers. He currently functions as Ultrasound Team Lead for the Pediatric Imaging Center at Duke University Children’s Health Center in North Carolina. Additionally, Greg shares his expertise in the field of Pediatric Sonography as a speaker at multiple symposia.
This activity is an approved SDMS CME activity – approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.

Important update from the SDMS:
SDMS no longer allows its CME providers to issue Partial Credit for attendance. If you join late or leave early, the SDMS will no longer permit us to award partial pro-rated credit.
Therefore, from now on, in order to receive CME credit, you must be in attendance for the ENTIRE event via your own unique Zoom link that Zoom emailed to you when you registered. Then, and only then, will USC be able to award you any credit. So, please be prompt and attentive to the time schedule.
