From Doppler to Diagnosis: Analyzing the Mitral Regurgitant Jet

January 19, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

Free
Mitral Regurgitant Jet

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT. ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is pleased to present another Free Learning Session in our series of Wharton’s Wednesdays. Dr. RONALD WHARTON will conduct a discussion on the information that can be extracted from evaluating the Mitral Regurgitant Jet.

Course Description:

A mitral regurgitation envelope, when dissected, can convey a wealth of clinical data. This session will make Sonographers aware of the abundance of diagnostic information that can obtained from a thorough understanding of the mitral regurgitant jet. Implications that can be gleaned from analysis of the regurgitant waveform regarding the anatomy and physiology of structures including and adjacent to the Mitral Valve will be discussed.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand how the mitral regurgitant jet reflects LV systolic function
  • Discuss how the spectral Doppler waveform infers anatomic and physiologic data about the mitral apparatus
  • Utilize the information obtained from the mitral regurgitant envelope to make inferences about the left ventricular outflow tract and aortic valve
  • Discuss when to suspect mitral regurgitation when acoustic shadowing is present
