REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is pleased to present Jeffrey C. Hill, BS, ACS, FASE Department Chair and Assistant Professor, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for an enlightening session on Strain Imaging and Speckle Tracking.
Course Description
Although strain imaging and speckle tracking have existed for over ten years, the principles and applications of these myocardial evaluation tools remain a mysterious challenge to many cardiac sonographers. This presentation will include a review of speckle tracking echocardiography (STE), global longitudinal strain (GLS), and how each is applied to assessing systolic and diastolic function. GLS waveforms will be analyzed in healthy and diseased hearts. Technical tips, with a focus on STE acquisition, will be discussed. (Approved for 1 CME SDMS Credit)
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
Describe what strain is and how it is applied to myocardial function
List the clinical application of GLS in health and disease
Describe how speckles are created in the ultrasound field
Demonstrate how to obtain and optimize GLS images
