Course Description:
There is a growing body of evidence supporting the use of Left Atrial Strain as a valuable parameter for evaluation of LA function. This presentation will include an overview of strain technology and its application to the left atrium. Discussions will clarify how to apply strain technology to healthy and diseased hearts. In addition, Doppler and structural correlates will be reviewed. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event)
Course Objectives:Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
List the measurements for LA strain
Describe how to interpret LA strain waveforms
Analyze LA strain waveforms in healthy and diseased hearts
About Our Speaker:
Jeffrey C. Hill, MSc, ACS, FASE, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Worcester, MA. He received his initial training in echocardiography at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Jeff has been the At-Large Chair and Commissioner of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology. He also served as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography for many years and served as an editorial board member for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.
Jeff’s research interests include studying myocardial mechanics and strain imaging, along with the development of tele-operative robotic lung ultrasound.
This activity has been approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.
The CME participant roster will be reported by Ultrasound Solutions Corp. to the SDMS CME Tracker System.
Important update from the SDMS:
SDMS no longer allows its CME providers to issue Partial Credit for attendance. If you join late or leave early, the SDMS will no longer permit us to award partial pro-rated credit.
Therefore, from now on, in order to receive CME credit, you must be in attendance for the ENTIRE event via your own unique Zoom link that Zoom emailed to you when you registered. Then, and only then, will USC be able to award you any credit. So, please be prompt and attentive to the time schedule.
