Description:
Physics Refresher Class – This one-day virtual event will provide participants with a greater understanding of a broad range of topics in the field of Ultrasound Physics. This comprehensive review will be helpful to those preparing for registry and certification exams. It will also
enhance general knowledge of sonographic physics as well as acquaint attendees on
how to apply principles to improve daily scanning and image optimization.
Approved for 8.5 SDMS CME Credits – REGISTER NOW
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the physical principles pertinent to the creation and propagation of
sound through soft tissue
- Discuss the components and functions of transducers and the ultrasound
machine
- Describe how to manipulate the ultrasound equipment to optimize the image
- Discuss bioeffects, quality assurance, and practicing the ALARA principle
About Our Speaker:
Dr. Traci Fox is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiologic Sciences at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a Research Assistant Professor in Radiology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical Center at TJU. Dr. Fox has been a Sonographer since graduating from Jefferson with her Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Imaging in 1993. She then earned her Master’s Degree in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences at TJU, followed by her Doctoral Degree (Ed. D) in Educational Leadership and Management at Drexel University. Dr. Fox is involved in the academic aspects of sonography education as well as ultrasound research. She has assisted with research on the diagnosis and treatment of breast, kidney, and pancreatic cancer; wound healing; and non-invasive pressure measurement with ultrasound using subharmonics. Dr. Fox is an accomplished author, having published as first author in four peer-reviewed publications and co-author in many others. Traci is also the co-author of two textbooks: Examination Review for Ultrasound: Sonographic Principles & Instrumentation and Vascular Technology Examination: PREP. In addition, Traci is the author of ScoreCards for OB/GYN. She is also a contributing author on several textbooks. Traci has presented at numerous local, national, and international conferences, including spending two weeks lecturing in Chengdu, China as part of the University Immersion Program at Sichuan University. Traci is now an adjunct for Sichuan University, teaching Physics in the first Sonographer program in China. In November 2017, Traci was also fortunate enough to be part of an advanced OB/GYN educational conference in Dubai, UAE.
