ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is delighted to introduce Jeffrey Guse, RT, RDMS, RVT, CUA, FAUNA,Ultrasound Coordinator & Urodynamics Technologist at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Urology Division of Physician Services, for a thorough exploration of the Lower Urinary Tract.
Course Description:
Sonographically, the distended urinary bladder is an essential “acoustic window” for evaluation of the pelvic structures, but the Lower Urinary Tract (LUT) is much more complex and interesting to be overlooked and labeled “just a window”. There is a plethora of maladies that can affect the LUT and Sonography can be instrumental in confirming their presence. This lecture will focus on the function/ dysfunction of the LUT and will examine the use and limitations of Urosonography in its evaluation. An introduction to Video Urodynamic Testing will be included, which is the “Gold Standard” in the assessment of the LUT. Some of the topics covered will include UTIs, bladder cancer, urinary retention/obstruction, and incontinence. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event)
Course Objectives:Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
Describe the anatomy of the Lower Urinary Tract (LUT).
Discuss and explain in simple terms, the complex physiology of the LUT.
Explain the common pathologies of the LUT.
Describe LUT function/dysfunction and its relationship with Sonographic presentation/prediction.
Introduce other diagnostic and imaging modalities that compliment Sonography.
