Course Description:
It is reported that 5 – 10% of all pediatric emergency room visits are for acute abdominal pain. A surgical etiology may be present in up to 20% of these patients. Due to the reduced exposure to ionizing radiation, in combination with its real-time and portable nature, ultrasound plays a critical role in the clinical pathway of pediatric patients presenting with acute abdominal pain. This session with focus on three examples of “ultrasound first” studies commonly encountered with pediatric patients presenting with acute abdominal pain. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)

About Our Speakers
Anthony Tardi, RDMS, RVT serves as the Senior Director of Global Product Marketing Ultrasound for Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. Anthony works closely with other specialists to establish clinical efficacy of new and advanced ultrasound technologies. He previously worked as Director of General Imaging Ultrasound for North America, Clinical Applications Team Leader and as a Regional Clinical Sales Specialist. He started his ultrasound career in Orange County, California, where he worked as a Sonographer specializing in General Imaging, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, and Vascular Sonography.
Jennifer Prewitt, RDMS, RVT is currently the Clinical Director for the Midwest and Central Zones of the United States, leading a team of Ultrasound Clinical Applications Specialists for Siemens Healthineers. Jennifer has been a sonographer for 27 years, thirteen of which were dedicated to Pediatric Sonography with some of the top hospitals in the country. She earned her Associate’s degree from Morehead State University and her Bachelor of Science from Northern Kentucky University. Jennifer recently celebrated her fourteenth anniversary with Siemens Healthineers.
