ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is pleased to welcome back Jane J.K. Burns, AS, RT, RDMS, Ultrasound Educator at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, for a detailed discussion of how to recognize specific portions of the fetal brain and assess it sonographically.
Course Description:
Imaging of the fetal central nervous system is a basic component of obstetrical ultrasound examinations and provides a valuable method of screening for anomalies. Yet, some portions of the fetal brain are only visible at specific times in gestation. This presentation will discuss fetal brain anatomy and landmarks identifiable in each of the three trimesters, as well as outline the flow of cerebral spinal fluid through the fetal brain. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
• Identify fetal head anatomy in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters
• Recognize different segments of the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain
• Distinguish main fissures and sulci on fetal ultrasound
• Describe normal CSF flow through the fetal brain
About Our Speaker: Jane J.K. Burns, AS, RT, RDMS, started her career in ultrasound in 1980 and has been working in the field of Perinatal/MFM for the past 28 years. She presently holds ultrasound registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Fetal Echo, as well as NTQR certification.
For the past 11 years, Jane has expanded her field of expertise to include work as a Sonography Educator. She has co-authored an OB/Gyn Registry Review Workbook and is presently the Ultrasound Educator at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Jane continues to present OB lectures at various ultrasound programs and loves to share her OB images, case studies, and “tips & tricks” to help others improve their image quality and knowledge.
This activity has been approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.
The CME participant roster will be reported by Ultrasound Solutions Corp. to the SDMS CME Tracker System.
SDMS no longer allows us to issue Partial Credit for your participation in USC Ultrasound CME events. If you join late or leave early, the SDMS will no longer permit us to award partial pro-rated credit.
Therefore, from now on, in order to receive CME credit, you must be in attendance for the ENTIRE event via your own unique Zoom link that Zoom emailed to you when you registered. Then, and only then, will USC be able to award you any credit. So please be prompt and attentive to the time schedule.
