Course Description:
For over 50 years, sonography has operated on one fundamental principle: the Pulse-Echo Principle. In recent years, a second principle has appeared in the operation of sonographic systems: the Virtual-Beam Principle. So now, some systems operate on the conventional Pulse-Echo Principle while others operate on the newer Virtual-Beam Principle. This presentation describes both principles and the characteristics of the images they produce. Advantages of the Virtual-Beam Principle will be clarified. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event.)

About Our Speaker:
Frederick W. Kremkau, PhD, FACR, FAIMBE, FAIUM, FASA, is Professor Emeritus of Radiologic Sciences at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and the University of Rochester.
He is a Past President of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, holds fellowships in multiple organizations and is the author of the textbook, Sonography Principles and Instruments, which is in its 10th edition.
This activity is an approved SDMS CME activity – approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.

Important update from the SDMS:
SDMS no longer allows its CME providers to issue Partial Credit for attendance. If you join late or leave early, the SDMS will no longer permit us to award partial pro-rated credit.
Therefore, from now on, in order to receive CME credit, you must be in attendance for the ENTIRE event via your own unique Zoom link that Zoom emailed to you when you registered. Then, and only then, will USC be able to award you any credit. So, please be prompt and attentive to the time schedule.
