OBGYN Course Description

Through an in-depth discussion of case studies of the female reproductive system, attendees will have the opportunity to learn and review normal anatomy and scanning techniques, as well as analyze a spectrum of GYN pathologies. Sonographers from beginner to advanced levels could all benefit from this presentation.  This free course has been approved for 1 SDMS CME credit.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this OBGYN educational activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Analyze normal and abnormal female reproductive anatomy
  • Identify abnormal uterine pathology
  • Describe differences in ovarian pathology
  • Apply critical thinking to ultrasound case studies

About Our Speaker

Cara Quedens Case, MS, BS, RDMS, RDCS has 37 years of experience as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.  She began as a Staff Sonographer in a large trauma center where she conducted a variety of General, OB/GYN, and Cardiac exams.  Ms. Case also had the privilege of being employed as a Research Sonographer at Yale University under the mentorship of Dr. Kenneth Taylor, world renowned academic Radiologist and pioneer in the applications of diagnostic medical ultrasound.  Cara helped establish the first ovarian cancer screening center at Yale and has also been involved with multiple contrast agent and drug trials, including working with the FDA to develop protocols.  After her many years at Yale, Ms. Case became the Chief Sonographer at a large OB/GYN practice in Connecticut.  In addition, she has collaborated with ultrasound manufacturers on machine design.  For the past 20 years, Ms. Case has taught Medical, Physician Assistant, and Sonography students.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational/Instructional Technology from Post University. Presently, Ms. Case is the Program Director at Gateway Community College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program in New Haven, Connecticut.
