ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is delighted to welcome back Dr. Nami Azar, MBA, FAIUM, Director of Ultrasound and Pediatric Interventional Radiology, from the Department of Radiology, University Hospitals, Cleveland, for an enlightening discussion on the role of ultrasound for the pancreatic transplant patient.
Course Description:
Scanning the transplanted pancreas can be a new challenge for Sonographers. To better manage the patient who has undergone pancreatic transplantation, Sonographers need to be familiar with not only the surgical procedures, but also the possible modifications of vascular anatomy and post-surgical problems that may develop. This presentation will describe several types of surgical techniques performed for pancreatic transplantation. Grayscale imaging and Doppler assessment of the transplanted pancreas will be discussed, as well as the importance of Interventional Radiology in managing potential complications. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event)
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
• Describe the surgical techniques used for pancreatic transplantation.
• Summarize the sonographic findings of the transplanted pancreas.
• State possible complications following pancreatic transplantation.
• Define the role of Interventional Radiology in management of patients who have undergone pancreatic transplantation.
About Our Speaker: Nami R. Azar, MD, MBA, FAIUM, is a Diagnostic Radiology Specialist in Cleveland, Ohio and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area. He received his medical degree from University of Aleppo Medical School and has been in practice for more than 20 years. Besides being a Board-Certified Diagnostic Radiologist, he also works as the Director of Pediatric Interventional Radiology and the Director of Ultrasound for the University Hospitals in Cleveland. In addition, he is a Professor in the Department of Radiology for Case Western Reserve University.
He presently serves as Chair of the Interventional Committee for the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and is a Journal Reviewer for the American Journal of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Azar is also a member of the Educational Exhibits Committee for the Radiological Society of North America, and a member of the Gastrointestinal Subcommittee of the RSNA.
His numerous publications involve the topics of ultrasound fusion and contrast-enhanced sonography for both the adult and pediatric patient population. Dr. Azar believes that the use of contrast-assisted Ultrasound will be integral for the future of this imaging modality.
This activity has been approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.

Important update from the SDMS:
SDMS no longer allows its CME providers to issue Partial Credit for attendance. If you join late or leave early, the SDMS will no longer permit us to award partial pro-rated credit.
Therefore, from now on, in order to receive CME credit, you must be in attendance for the ENTIRE event via your own unique Zoom link that Zoom emailed to you when you registered. Then, and only then, will USC be able to award you any credit. So, please be prompt and attentive to the time schedule.
