ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is excited to welcome back Dr. Robert J. Feezor, Medical Director of UF Health – Halifax Health, Heart, and Vascular Surgery for an enlightening session on the management of carotid artery disease.

Course Description:

Management of Carotid Atherosclerotic Disease often starts with evaluation using sonographic imaging. Once the degree of occlusion has been established, the need for medical and/or surgical treatment can be determined. This presentation will provide an understanding of the pathophysiology of carotid occlusive disease and the potential clinical implications of carotid stenosis. A discussion of the basic tenets of carotid management, including medical therapy, surgical endarterectomy, and carotid stenting, will be included. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit, provided one is present for the entire event)

Course Objectives:  Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

  • State the risk factors for Cerebrovascular Obstructive Disease (CVOD)
  • Identify the symptoms of CVOD
  • Discuss estimating the risk of stroke based on Carotid Duplex examination
  • Describe treatments for CVOD, including medical management, Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA), Transfemoral Carotid Artery Stenting (TF-CAS), and Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR)

About Our Speaker: 

Carotid Atherosclerotic Disease Robert J. Feezor, MD, FACS, FSVS is an Associate Chief Medical Officer at the University of Florida, where he has been on faculty within the Department of Surgery for 15 years. In 2016, he moved to Daytona Beach, Florida and lead the expansion of UF Health beyond Gainesville. He serves as the Medical Director and Department Chair of Surgery for UF Health, Heart, and Vascular Surgery – Halifax Health. In addition to his administrative obligations, he continues to perform vascular surgery four days a week along with one day of clinic per week.  Most importantly, he is a full-time Dad, loves spending time with his three sons, and loves living on the beach.

This activity has been approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.

The CME participant roster will be reported by Ultrasound Solutions Corp. to the SDMS CME Tracker System.
