ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. warmly welcomes Alicia Scott, CPC, CPC-I, CRC, for an informative session on coding for OB/GYN Sonography.
Description:
The ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT code sets were created to allow for translation of diagnoses and procedures into statistics. This presentation will briefly cover the purpose of these code sets and how they apply to everyday practice in OB/GYN Sonography. Highlights will be given to coding for abnormal anatomy, both genetic and acquired. In addition, there will be a focus on how the code sets define specific areas like gestational weeks and pregnancy complications. Case studies will be provided. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
• Identify the purpose of code sets
• Correlate the codes to common abnormal OB/GYN sonographic findings
• Discuss practical application of the code sets to OB/GYN case studies
About Our Speaker:
Alicia Scott, CPC, CPC-I, CRC, has been working in the medical field for over 30 years. She started her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant before graduating high school, later becoming an Emergency Medical Technician in a hospital Emergency Department. During her time as a Pharmacy Technician, she realized there were other areas of the medical field she would like to explore. She moved on to working with medical records, eventually discovering her love for medical coding. Ultimately, she became a Diagnostic Specialist in Medical Coding.
Through the years Alicia has developed a talent for public speaking. She now works as both a Provider Educator for Baylor Scott & White Health as well as the Educational Director for CCO.us where she educates coders on how to achieve multiple credentials to meet their career goals. Alicia also is an Adjunct Instructor for SUNY Downstate in the Medical Billing and Coding Program.
This activity has been approved for 1.0 SDMS CME credit.
