Course Description:

This course is designed for students, practicing sonographers, or physicians who are preparing to sit for their OB/GYN specialty examination, or, as a refresher for those who already hold the OB/GYN registry credential. This interactive presentation will allow the participants to test their knowledge in a timed question/answer format as they join their fellow audience members in some fun and friendly competition.

(Approved for 2 SDMS CME credits)

NOTE:  Due to the unique nature of this webinar, 100 attendees will actually be able to participate electronically in the live game.  Participants who choose to “play” virtually will be directed to download the Kahoot! App on their phones.  “Contestants” will need their cell phone plus an additional device (computer, laptop, tablet, etc.) to play.  The computer/tablet will be needed to display the questions and images while the cell phone will act as their “response clicker”.  “Competitors” will have the option to play under a pseudonym – no need to use your real name if you don’t want to – you can be creative!

Instructions on how to get the free Kahoot! App on your phone will be provided a few days prior to the event.  In the meantime, if you wish, feel free to download the app to your phone once you register so you will already be set to play.  (You can find the free Kahoot! App in your phone’s “Google Play Store” or “Apple App Store”.)

Of course, attendees are not required to play interactively; if preferred, you can learn by simply watching the webinar.  

Remember, even if you don’t want to download or use the Kahoot! App during this event, you can still watch and enjoy the OB/GYN Registry Review webinar and test your knowledge as you follow along.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:

• Assess the normal anatomy and physiology of the female pelvis sonographically
• Evaluate the female pelvis sonographically for abnormal perfusion or pathology
• Identify normal anatomy and physiology of the fetus on a first, second, and third trimester obstetric ultrasound study
• Sonographically evaluate first, second, and third trimester abnormalities and complications
• Identify placental and umbilical cord abnormalities
• Evaluate cervical and maternal obstetrical complications on ultrasound
• Demonstrate proper measurement techniques utilized in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations
• Assess the hemodynamics, if indicated, on an obstetric or gynecologic ultrasound examination
• Demonstrate the proper protocols and procedures of an obstetric or gynecologic ultrasound examination

About Our Speaker:

Rivka Hellmann, MS, RDMS, RDCS is a 2001 graduate of the Diagnostic Medical Imaging (Sonography) Program at SUNY Downstate Health Science University (Brooklyn, NY).  Immediately after graduating, she began her sonography career and gained experience in all aspects of sonography.  Subsequently, she was asked to join the faculty at her alma mater and now lectures in OB/GYN and pediatric sonography as a Clinical Associate Professor. Rivka also places between 40 – 50 students at their clinical rotations each semester in her other role as Clinical Coordinator of the Program. 

Ms. Hellmann earned her Master’s Degree in Medical Informatics and linked her enchantment with healthcare to her fascination with computers.  She received the Dean’s Outstanding College Contributor Award and the Award for Clinical Excellence, both from SUNY Downstate.  She is involved in research and her most recent project will be published in the JDMS this year.  While she works full-time, she also loves spending time with her husband and their four beautiful children.
