We are pleased to present Dr. Nami Azar, MBA, FAIUM, Director of Ultrasound and Pediatric Interventional Radiology, from the Department of Radiology, University Hospitals, Cleveland, for a discussion on ultrasound fusion and contrast techniques in Interventional Radiology.
Course Description:
In this event, new applications of contrast ultrasound in Interventional Radiology (IR) will be highlighted. Important differences in equipment settings that specifically fit the needs of IR, especially since it’s not a traditional diagnostic imaging study, will also be covered. In addition, discussion of a technique to improve needle visualization during IR procedures while using the contrast package will be addressed.
Topic content will involve the unique techniques and applications of ultrasound contrast in IR, such as IV bolus, continuous IV drip, Sinogram, and Venogram. Examples will be provided in both pediatric and adult patients. Ultrasound fusion in IR and the value sonographers bring by active involvement in the process will also be examined. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
• Describe the types of contrast-assisted ultrasound applications used in Interventional Radiology.
• List the differences in equipment settings when contrast ultrasound is incorporated in IR.
• Summarize the added value of using ultrasound fusion in IR.
• Specify the role of the Sonographer in IR.
