ULTRASOUND SOLUTIONS CORP. is pleased to present another Free Learning Session in our popular series of Wharton’s Wednesdays! Dr. RONALD WHARTON will orchestrate a conversation on how to accurately obtain and understand the information acquired through the sonographic imaging of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
Course Description:
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a frequently suspected cardiac disease, yet it can present a challenge to the cardiac sonographer. A thorough understanding of the appearance of and effect on cardiac anatomy and physiology is crucial for accurate diagnosis of this condition. In this presentation, Dr. Wharton will review morphologies, discuss Doppler signal appearances, and compare HCM to other causes of obstruction to the left ventricular outflow tract. In addition, a review of the use of contrast agents in the diagnostic process will be included. (Approved for 1 SDMS CME credit)
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
Understand the different morphologies in which Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) can appear on an Echocardiogram.
Recognize the common Spectral and Color Doppler signals that characterize HCM.
Differentiate HCM from other causes of LVOT obstruction.
Discuss the indications for the use of Ultrasound-enhancing agents when imaging patients with HCM.
